Two men were arrested this week with 225 kilos of avocados that were being transported in a vehicle, which had been stolen from a farm in Tacoronte in Tenerife.
The destination of the stolen avocados was street vendors in municipalities in the north of Tenerife, and the market value of these avocados was estimated to be 1,300 euros.
The detainees have been identified with the initials J.M.G., 35 years and A.A.P., 29 years, both with police records, and were stopped by police with avocados in sacks in the vehicle they were travelling in.
The fruit was ‘recognised’ by the owner of the farm from which it had been stolen, and from which the perimeter fence had been broken to access the farm.
