The old cemetery of Puerto del Rosario is one of the oldest in the Canary Islands. It was built around 200 years ago, and houses 400 tombs of previous residents.
The Government of Fuerteventura describes this as a space where time stops, and many of those buried here are no longer remembered by families and friends, as so much time has passed.
This cemetery has not been used since the 1970s, when the Zurita Cemetery was built.
