Thanks to donations made by the Mapfre Guanarteme Foundation, Enrique Rapisarda Arencibia and the Maspalomas-Tafira Rotary Club, the hall of the Maternity Unit of the Insular Hospital in Gran Canaria has a grand piano to be used for musical recitals, and this initiative is part of the Humanisation Plan of the University Hospital Complex Maternity Unit.
The purchase of this piano is intended to encourage local artists to participate in a concert schedule to celebrate music in this central space on a regular basis.
International pianist and singer, Anna Maria Jopek, was the first to perform with this new piano, and allowed patients, families and staff of the hospital to enjoy live music, and she was also performing at the Cuyas Theatre in Las Palmas.
Anna Maria Jopek said, “Music is important, because to be healthy, to celebrate creation, and to enjoy music are very important.”
