This week’s heavy rain storms in La Palma once again highlighted the problems faced in the streets of Santa Cruz de La Palma.
During severe storms, seawater often causes damage to local shops, but also heavy rainstorms create serious flooding in the city. One example was shown this week when the rain collected many items of litter, including hygienic wipes, which clogged the drains and increased the problems of flooding.
The City Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma has asked the local water company to find solutions that avoid the regular flooding during torrential rain storms, which ends up affecting businesses and homes in the area.
