The Government of La Gomera this week approved its Sustainable Mobility Plan.
This project has been prepared over several months, and has much participation from local residents, which is described as very important.
The document released this week seeks strategies to reduce environmental impacts with a more sustainable transport system.
This project has been completed with the involvement of local municipalities and business representatives of the transport sector, and has investigated the difficulties of creating bike lanes due to dispersed population settlements, and the geography of the island. Despite these difficulties, there are plans to create the first bike lane in La Gomera in Alajero.
This plan also focuses on implementing clean energy in public buildings, and to encourage the use of public transport and electric vehicles.
