The Ministry of Environment of the Government of La Palma has closed the PR LP 6 hiking path of Marcos y Cordero, while specialised technicians evaluate a possible risk of large rocks becoming detached along this route.
According to a local councillor, Juan Manuel Gonzalez, the decision to close this hiking route has been made after the head of the department of the Environment Department said that there was danger in a section of this busy island pathway. He said “The Government staff work at the field level and their knowledge is very important, but first of all, we want to preserve the safety of those who walk our paths, subject to users’ own precautions and external factors determined by the meteorology or geomorphology of the terrain, and in this case, it is unpredictable.”
