The Government of El Hierro and the Insular Council of Water have started to clean the ravines across the island to avoid flooding in the event of possible rains during the winter season.
The Government has reported that weeds are being eliminated in all water channels that could pose a danger to the local population and infrastructures.
The cleaning of the ravines has started in several localities across the island, and specifically in the ravine of El Puente, the ravine of Santiago and the gorge of Marrero in Valverde.
An external company has been hired to carry out this work, along with nine local workers from the Employment and Local Development Plan to improve the hydraulic resources in this area.
