A 46-year-old man of foreign nationality died when diving off the coast of Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria.
The emergency services were alerted during the late morning that a diver was discovered unconscious in the sea and needed medical assistance, and teams were despatched to respond to this incident.
Two ambulances were despatched, as well as a doctor and primary care nurse from the Mogan Health Centre, members of the Guardia Civil and Policia Local.
The victim was transferred to Puerto de Mogan by the boat that had organised the diving activity, and when he arrived on shore, the Red Cross staff confirmed that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest, and they began to carry out resuscitation procedures.
The doctor and nurse also assisted the victim, but they could only confirm his death.
