In the Municipality of Alajero in La Gomera, work will be carried out to extend the beach area, improve the services currently available, and change parts of the maritime avenue of Playa de Santiago to create a new pedestrian promenade, which will commence in a few weeks.
Work begins in January, and the current image of this section of the coast will be completely changed with a budget of around one million euros, and should be completed by the end of 2018. As well as adapting the beach area, there will also be new landscaped areas and new urban furniture.
However, the most important element of these improvements will be the pedestrianisation of this stretch of the maritime avenue, because traffic, parking areas and architectural barriers will disappear. This should also give an economic boost to what is already one of the most important tourist attractions of La Gomera.
