Many residents of the Canary Islands will know the stress of receiving a final demand for their electricity bill, and normally make sure they have enough money to pay for this critically important utility. However, it seems that recently the City Council of Arrecife in Lanzarote have not paid their outstanding electric bill, and it was facing its electric supply being cut by the power company.
It appears that some political parties of the City Council voted against paying this electricity bill, including Coalicion Canaria, Partido Popular and an independent councillor, but at an urgent session of the council, these councillors voted to pay the outstanding electric bill.
This now means that local sports and municipal facilities will not lose their lighting and electric supply. Hopefully, the council will pay their next bill on time, like most of the residents of Lanzarote.
