This week saw Fuerteventura hold an act of commemoration for the International Day Against LGBTI Phobia, and included many local groups from across the Canary Islands, such as Altihay Fuerteventura, Lanzate Lanzarote, Algarabia Tenerife, Goma Gran Canaria, Apertura, TransBoys Tenerife, Aranda LGBTI Gran Canaria, La Palma Violets, Canary Islands Chrysalis, Dredgers Gran Canaria and Equal Gran Canaria.
During this event held every year on 17 May, the groups read a manifesto for the International Day Against LGBTI Phobia.
This year celebrated ten years since the Government of the Canary Islands first commemorated this important international event across the islands, and to show support for local LGBTI groups and their fight for equality, respect and visibility in society.
