The Government of Fuerteventura this week rejected the reactivation of military manoeuvres on the island. Apparently, these manoeuvres were carried out without prior notice and without consulting the local authorities.
The Government of Fuerteventura approved a motion to reject this military action, and demands that the Ministry of Defence and the Government Delegation permanently close the Pajara shooting range. It insists this is incompatible with the activities and lives of the local residents and tourists, but also on the negative impact on the environment beyond the limits of the shooting range.
The Government is now asking all municipalities on the island to adopt similar rejections of these military manoeuvres and activities.
