The Canary Islands Government announced this week that it is considering the possibility of implementing preferred lanes for buses and high-occupancy vehicles in at least three high density motorways. These would be the GC1 and GC3 in Gran Canaria and the TF5 in Tenerife.
The projects are in the study phase for Gran Canaria, but in the case of the motorway in the north of Tenerife, there are already completed layout project plans, as this is identified as a priority project that will be financed by the new highway agreement.
Pablo Rodriguez, Vice President of the Government and Minister of Public Works and Transport said during this technical conference that with the new bus and high-occupancy vehicle lane in Tenerife, it is planned to create one more lane on the TF5 to create this.
