The wine sector of El Hierro this week reported that, as a result of losses in recent harvests, the production of wines from El Hierro is not enough to cover all the current demands.
Currently, the largest producer on the island, Viña Frontera, has a reserve of 1000 litres of fruity white wine, 8000 litres of red wine, but now has very low stocks of dry white wine.
The hotel sector on the island has opted to include Canary Islands wines in their menus, but with limited stocks, this will not be able to cover local demand during the summer, so lovers of El Hierro wines will have to wait for the next season in September.
