This week an agreement has been reached between DISA petrol company, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Governments of El Hierro and La Gomera to reduce the currently high price for petrol.
According to the Government of the Canary Islands, in terms of retail price, this means a reduction of 31 euros per cubic metre of petrol directly applicable at service stations managed by the DISA company on both islands.
The Government of El Hierro, Belen Allende, said “this is a first gesture that should be maintained and strengthened in the future, and we search for alternatives that can guarantee that the DISA company can distribute its extra costs across the other Canary Islands, so that they offer similar prices, which happens for companies in the food sector.”
The Government of El Hierro reports that it understands the extra costs involved in supplying petrol for the islands of El Hierro and La Gomera and the fewer car owners and car users on these two islands.
