A total of 84 more firefighting personnel will be prepared for any fires that occur during the summer of 2018 in tasks of fire prevention and firefighting any incidents reported.
These are part of the Intervention and Reinforcement Teams launched by the Government of the Canary Islands.
This is the second year that these firefighting teams have been operating in La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
This intervention project will extend until 30 November to be ready for any outbreaks of fire and to help prevent fires starting. In the case of La Palma, the Government of the Canary Islands has invested around 600,000 euros, and is earmarked specifically for prevention and extinction work in the La Caldera de Taburiente National Park.
