Politicians in the Government of Gran Canaria this week have been raising their concerns about the GC1 Motorway that has daily traffic use of around 200,000 vehicles, which tend to cause huge traffic delays in certain sections each day, such as La Estrella, La Garita and Melenara.
These politicians are demanding the Government of Gran Canaria find solutions to the huge number of vehicles that use this route on a daily basis. They demand immediate solutions to this issue.
It is reported that the population of Gran Canaria has decreased by almost 1% since 2014, according to ISTAC data, but the number of vehicles has increased by seven points, which is 745 cars per 1000 inhabitants in 2017.
These traffic jams are reported by news media daily and these affect traffic in both directions, and many politicians are calling for more public transport solutions.
