This week at a meeting with the President of the Casa de Galicia, Albino Aneiros and members of the Casa Galicia, the Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Augusto Hidalgo, announced the reconstruction of Casa Galicia with an investment of 90,000 euros.
This historic regional house was badly damaged by fire in 2014 and since that time has remained closed.
This Casa de Galicia, located on Calle Salvador Cuyas del Puerto, is well known for organising with the Consistory, the procession of the Three Kings on 5 January each year known as Cabalgata de Reyes Magos in Las Palmas, but for the last four years has had to use another centre located in Calle Juan Rejon.
The Mayor explained “in addition to the extraordinary contribution to the reconstruction of Casa Galicia, the city of Las Palmas subsidises each year 6000 euros for the social work carried out by this group of people, because the important thing is the impressive work done by Casa de Galicia, especially in social matters, and they have not stopped supporting the most vulnerable families in the city and across the island, especially at specific times, such as Christmas.”
