A team of archaeologists this week announced it was currently searching for the remains of English pirates that were defeated in the battles of Cuchillete and Tamasite during the 18thCentury, when local militia prevented these pirate attacks successfully.
This archaeological project is promoted by the General Directorate of Historical Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands, and seeks to discover the remains of bodies and other artefacts of these important battles.
The company in charge of this historical search has asked for help from local residents to hear their testimonies that could have been passed down from their ancestors about these battles against the English pirates during the 18thCentury, which could provide relevant and useful background information.
