This week it was announced that the gates installed at the Marina Deportiva of the Port of Santa Cruz de La Palma are now working at full capacity. This novel system has been installed for the first time in a Spanish port with the aim of ending the problems of rough sea water.
These are two large gates that measure four metres high and 20 metres wide. Despite the complexity of the work, the operation is simple, and in about 8 minutes the operation of both opening and closing the gates is completed.
Traffic lights warn boat crews of the position of the floodgates to avoid any accidents.
