The Government of El Hierro reported this week that its commitment to clean energy is paying off, as in July it broke previous records and for 18 consecutive days, 100% of its energy needs were produced by the hydroelectric power station of Gorona del Viento.
Therefore, the average energy consumption of July saw 95.9% contribution of renewable energy, and sets a new record for the island.
This report also states that between January and July 2018, renewable energy production increased by over 17%, compared to the same period last year.
