Grupo Douglas chain of perfume stores this week announced that it is closing 53 stores, and 226 of its staff will be made redundant, but the company said that it would not close its stores in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
It is reported that the company blames economic and production factors that have led to these store closures in Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Castilla y Leon, La Rioja, Basque Country, Cantabria, Extremadura, Galicia and Navarra, and includes the shops of Douglas, Juteco and Bodybell, as well as the If brands.
Last year, Bodybell was sold by German Group Douglas to HIG Capital Fund as a mergers and acquisitions process to restructure the company.
