It was reported this week that El Hierro grape vine growers are forecasting a vintage season, as grapes from all across the island began to be collected.
The Insular Winery Warehouse reported that so far, a total of 40,000 kilos of grapes had been collected, and optimal quality has now been confirmed by the correct degree of acidity and sugar content.
Expectations are good, since last year around 130,000 kilos of grapes were collected, but this year the grape growers are forecasting a grape harvest of around 150,000 kilos.
It is reported that grapes are collected according to their variety and readiness for collection, but it seems the last grapes to be collected in El Pinar will be the black vijariego, and the last grapes to be collected in La Frontera will be the white vijariego from the mountain areas.
