Elderly Swimmer Seriously Ill in Lanzarote Hospital

Elderly Swimmer Seriously Ill in Lanzarote Hospital

The 112 Emergency Service this week reported that a 73-year-old swimmer had been hospitalised in a serious health condition after suffering drowning during the afternoon in the sea at El Cura Beach in the Municipality of San Bartolome in Lanzarote.

It is reported that lifeguards on the beach rescued the man from the sea and found that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest, and with the help of a local resident who was in the area and identified himself as a nurse, they performed resuscitation procedures that managed to stop his heart arrest.

Later an ambulance arrived at El Cura Beach to transfer the man to Lanzarote Hospital.

Policia Local and Guardia Civil officers also attended the scene of this drowning and rescue and prepared the appropriate reports on the incident.
