This September hosts the third Barberos Solidarios charity event on the beach of Las Canteras in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, when Canarian barbers will be offering to cut hair, trim beards and give relaxing massages for a very economic price, and the money raised will support local charities.
The Councillor for Employment and Tourism, Pedro Quevedo, and Councillor for Mobility, Economic Promotion and City of the Sea, Jose Eduardo Ramirez, announced that for the third time, the Barberos Solidarios will take place on 15 and 16 September in the Plaza de Saulo Toron.
La Asociaction Pequeño Valiente and Social Dining Rooms operated by San Pedro de La Isleta and Life4Pitbull Canarias will be recipients of the money raised.
All those who want to collaborate are asked for a donation of 4 euros for haircuts or massage, and these will be offered by 40 barbers representing all the Canary Islands.
Jose Eduardo Ramirez said, “This initiative was launched by the Barberos Solidarios Platform in 2016, and does not hesitate to contribute time and knowledge of dozens of professionals from across the Canary Islands in order to show, in a very original way, what is possible with very little, and to collaborate in the daily development of activities that help many people who need it.”
In addition to the haircuts, beard grooming and massages, the organisers have prepared a charity race that will run along the beach of Las Canteras, and those who wish to participate just have to pay 1 euro, which will be added to the funds raised for charity.
