The Insular Council of Water of the Government of Tenerife has announced a new project to improve the current state of industrial discharge from the commercial estate of Guimar.
To begin this project, it is first necessary to gain the support of the municipalities of Guimar, Candelaria and Arafo.
It is planned that this new project would help to regulate the discharges from the industries based at this industrial estate, and avoid any further environmental disasters.
At present, support has been approved by the Municipality of Candelaria. The other two municipalities have yet to formally approve this measure, but have previously given their support to resolving the current problems.
This looks like a green light for the Industrial Wastewater Station (EDARI), and the tender for this project should be issued later this year at a cost of around seven million euros.
