Fuerteventura Taxi Driver Attacked by British Tourist

Fuerteventura Taxi Driver Attacked by British TouristThe Guardia Civil has detained a 33-year-old man of British nationality as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of injury to a taxi driver reported to be 57 years old.

It is reported that the events occurred when a taxi driver picked up a British family at the airport to take them to Caleta de Fuste. During the journey, the taxi driver decided to stop driving due to the aggressive attitude of one of the occupants, who was described to be a state of intoxication.

Outside the taxi, the 33-year-old tourist hit the taxi driver with a glass bottle on his head.

The taxi driver was taken to hospital with a 10-centimetre head wound. The accused was taken to court as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of injury.

The taxi driver’s professional organisation has confirmed that this was an isolated incident, and the first that has occurred in this part of the island.
