Although some might think that eight years of working for the Policia Nacional in Gran Canaria might be a little early for retirement, but Pol is now looking forward to taking life a little easier.
Pol is a Belgian Shepherd, and was part of the canine unit of the Policia Nacional based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This unique member of the police team is reported to have detected numerous kilos of drugs, but like in most professions there are always younger and more energetic police puppy recruits eager to take your job.
So, Pol was given his P45 and put up for adoption, and there was no shortage of willing families to welcome him into their homes. Pol has now met his new family after the Nacional Policia used social media to explain that he was about to retire and needed a loving home, and received a flood of responses.
After careful consideration, a family from Tenerife was chosen as the new family for Pol’s retirement. Well done Pol!
