The La Palma Tourism Centre has launched a new initiative to raise awareness of dynamic tourism and to help create jobs for local residents, and is called ‘Tourismo Somos Todos’.
This project is funded by the Canary Islands Employment Service and will continue for eight months, and should enable the hiring of qualified staff who were previously unemployed, as well as promoting the importance of tourism for the island by training sessions for school children, professional groups and staff working in the services sector in La Palma.
This project will operate with an investment of 68,000 euros, and it is hoped to involve hundreds of students, professionals and service sector workers, and will be based in educational centres, local town halls and business centres across the island, as well as special events.
