Around 130 residents living in the centre of Arrecife in Lanzarote are demanding solutions to problems of housing. Several families living in rented properties in the capital of Lanzarote are on the verge of eviction, but without being offered any alternative accommodation by council administrators or owners.
This protest group that met this week claim that the situation is an emergency, but not only for these families. There are professional people who work in health and education services who are moving from other islands and have nowhere to live, as well as others living in other parts of the island. There has been no public response from Arrecife Town Hall.
