There is mounting concern about the safety of the north breakwater of Santa Cruz de La Palma that protects the city’s waterfront. This was originally built to ensure that the impact of the sea does not affect the coastline, but it has suffered significant damage over recent times.
The City Council is requesting an inspection by the Demarcation of Coasts to confirm what possible weaknesses there are in this breakwater. The recent rough sea conditions have prevented any investigation, but it is hoped that these problems will be assessed soon.
