There have been increased thefts from farms in Lanzarote each year and in Teguise, the local municipality has launched a new initiative to try to prevent more robberies from farms.
In one farm in the town of Los Valles, thieves stole most of the farm’s harvest of 750 kilos of potatoes. The town council of Teguise has asked local residents to help identify the alleged thieves and help to recover this potato heist. In addition, more Policia Local officers will be used to carry increase surveillance of local farms.
To prevent this problem from getting worse, another possible solution to end robberies includes identifying the origin of crops purchased by merchants. Any resident of Lanzarote who has useful information about farm robberies should contact the local police.
