Hotel Restaurant in Gran Canaria Scammed by Customers

Officers of the Policia Nacional this week arrested a 34-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman in San Bartolome de Tirajana or Maspalomas in Gran Canaria, who are alleged to be perpetrators of a scam crime after refusing to pay for a dinner at a hotel restaurant when they consumed two bottles of wine priced at 1950 euros each.

The restaurant manager of the hotel registered the complaint against this couple with the police, and is reported to have said that a couple, after having dinner at the restaurant, had refused to pay the bill that amounted to 4000 euros.

The police officers went to the restaurant and met with employees of the restaurant, who confirmed that the couple had requested two high priced bottles of wine, whose price amounted to 3900 euros.

At the time of paying the bill, both the man and the woman refused to pay for the wine, and claimed that the wine bottles were not the ones they had ordered.

The police investigation verified that the wine served corresponded with the wine selected by the diners, so they proceeded to arrest them as alleged perpetrators of a crime of fraud.
