Transsexual Worker in Gran Canaria Claims Harassment

A transsexual worker in the cleaning service of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has made a complaint about hate crimes experienced when working, which was reported in a local newspaper.

Maria Jose Aleman claims that she suffered harassment and insults at work due to her change of sex and that when she complained, she was only moved from the Port area, her usual place of work, to the area of Vegueta.

Las Palmas Council announced that it will investigate all these allegations, so that an information file will be opened, and if harassment and insults are proven, then disciplinary action will be taken against those responsible for these.
