The City Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma seeks to redesign the Avenida del Puente, which is one of the busiest commercial areas of the city for many years, but over recent years it has shown signs of decline.
The City Council is looking for ideas to redesign the area in a more stylish manner to give a modern urban look, and so reinvigorate trade in the main streets of the city.
This measure that was passed this week was supported unanimously at a meeting that discussed the current problems in this central street, and the plan to improve its attractiveness and provide much needed support for local businesses.
The motion approved this week says that Avenida del Puente will be redesigned as a boulevard, and all necessary steps will be taken to create a blueprint on which to start working to obtain all the required funding to complete this work.
A commission of services will be responsible for launching this initiative in which professionals from different fields and local residents will be consulted.
