A small recreational boat caught fire this week in Arguineguin in Gran Canaria. The boat was docked at the quay, and was towed out to sea by another boat owner, so that it did not spread to other boats.
Sources of the investigation suggest that the fire could have been due to an electrical failure. The Emergency Services of the Government of the Canary Islands report that there was no one inside the boat, so there were no injuries involved.
Firefighters intervened in the work of extinguishing the fire on this boat, but reported that although individuals acted in good faith to avoid a dangerous situation developing from this fire, it is forbidden to tow a burning boat, because it could cause another major accident.
